Special Events Temp

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

SPECIAL EVENTS TEMP:
The Armory is seeking a development professional to join a small but entrepreneurial group. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who work well within a fast-paced environment. Working in conjunction with the Director of Special Events and the Special Events and larger Development team, this temporary staff member will help to plan and execute high-end events for major donors, sponsors and members of the Armory. This position is a full-time temporary role for coverage during our event season beginning in Mid-May and ending at the end of June with the possibility of extending through the end of July.

Responsibilities include database work, list and calendar management, as well as coordinating event mailings, response tracking, follow-up for events, staffing plans, and coordinating event logistics with vendors and Armory staff. Specific events will include opening nights and events for member groups and artists throughout productions. Drafting written correspondence as it relates to events may be required. Experience with expense and income budgets is preferred.

The role may also additional responsibilities, tasks, and projects, as assigned by the Deputy Director of Development, Director of Special Events, and other department heads.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Ideal candidates will have 2 to 5 years of events experience, and also be highly organized, motivated, high-energy, and detail-oriented. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience with database management, particularly Tessitura, is preferred. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

COMPENSATION:
This is a temporary full-time salaried position. Salary is commensurate with experience and only statutory benefits are provided. Please provide salary requirements with your application.
