Park Avenue Armory is a newly launched cultural organization whose mission is to revitalize one of America’s historic treasures as a dynamic alternative arts space unlike any other in New York. Part palace, part industrial shed, the Armory is dedicated to work in the performing and visual arts best realized in a non-traditional setting.
Small and entrepreneurial, the Armory development team offers interns the unique opportunity to acquire diverse, hands-on experience in the areas of fundraising, non-profit management and arts administration.
Fundraising and Development Interns will develop creative, analytical and administrative skills through:
• Research for individual, foundation, and corporation funding sources; compiling research reports for Development staff; and preparing grant proposals
• Update of patron records to facilitate communications and analysis for development and marketing
• Support for artistic programming and cultivation events, including: list management; mailings; data entry; and staffing, which may involve working some evenings/weekends
Interns will meet with development staff regularly to understand how their ongoing work benefits the larger picture for the department and the organization. Interns will also be invited to meet with staff from other areas of the Armory to discuss career interests and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a detail-oriented, dedicated, computer savvy, and enthusiastic individual.
