POSITION DESCRIPTION: Events Intern

THE MISSION
Park Avenue Armory is not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to preserve, restore, and renovate one of America’s historic treasures and open it to the public as a cultural center. It is dedicated to works in the performing and visual arts best realized in a non-traditional setting. The Armory is committed to innovative programming of music, visual arts, dance, and theatre where the relationship between the audience and the work is not constrained by formality.

The Armory, built between 1877 and 1881 on an entire block in Manhattan, stands as one of the finest extant examples of the American Aesthetic Movement in the country.  Its 55,000 square foot drill hall, reminiscent of the great train sheds of Europe, remains one of the largest unobstructed spaces in New York.

DUTIES
Park Avenue Armory is looking for an Events Intern to provide administrative support for the Event Manager and general event assistance to all departments.

Duties include:
• Screening event rental requests via email and phone
• Assisting with logistics for events
• Keeping task lists
• Sending follow up emails
• Database work (track rental inquiries and contact information)
• On-site assistance during events
• Organizing and updating institutional event calendar
• Filing

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current enrollment (or recent graduation) from an under graduate or graduate program in Arts Administration, Business or Event Production. 
• Excellent written and language skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Proficiency in Adobe graphics programs a plus.
• Ability to be on call for evening and weekend events throughout the summer

COMPENSATION
This is an unpaid position. A small travel stipend may be available.
