Development Coordinator

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Development Coordinator is part of a two-person team responsible for raising approximately $2.5 million in annual support.  The role primarily assists in managing a portfolio of small to mid-level corporate, foundation, and government supporters, and works closely with the Director of Institutional Giving to cultivate and maintain a pipeline of institutional funders and sponsors. In addition, the Development Coordinator plays an important part in funder research and identifying new funding opportunities, while assisting with other institutional giving fundraising priorities as needed.  The work requires excellent writing, communication, and administrative skills.

The Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Institutional Giving and works with the Director of Development and collaboratively with the entire Development Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A successful candidate will meet many of these requirements and have the desire and capacity to learn the rest on the job. Ideal candidates will be highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented self-starters who work well within a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, and proactively manage multiple projects and priorities with concurrent and changing deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Strength working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as in internet research; Tessitura or similar database knowledge a plus.
• Event experience is a plus, with the ability to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays in support of events and programs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• 1+ years of experience in administrative fundraising and/or project management or the equivalent combination of experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job.
• Experience working in Development for a performing and/or visual arts organization or non-profit, personal interest in arts and culture a plus.
• Experience writing grants.
• Event experience is a plus, with the ability to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays in support of events and programs.

COMPENSATION
Compensation starts at $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This position is Non-Exempt.
