Assistant House Manager (Part-Time)

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER (PART-TIME):
Assisting the Senior House Manager in overseeing Front of House operations, the part-time Assistant House Manger is responsible for helping maintain the smooth operation of the house. He/she/they will help sustain a positive customer experience for patrons, visitors and guests of the Armory. This position is responsible for helping train and motivate a strong team of Front of House staff to ensure the highest level of customer service and for helping coordinate with various departments at the Armory to ensure that the front of house standards are met on all levels.

The Assistant House Manager reports to the Senior House Manager and assists in the supervision during shows of a variable number of Ushers, which often include members of the Armory’s high school Youth Corps.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function to a professional standard.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Ideal candidates will be organized, motivated, high-energy, hands-on self-starters who work well within a fast-paced environment.

• Prior experience in Front of House operations.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in the broad range of performing and visual arts events produced at the Armory.
• Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Certificate of Fitness F-03, for Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel (can be obtained upon hiring).

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, safety is always a priority.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high places and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
