Individual Giving Coordinator

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City. Park Avenue Armory provides opportunities for employees to enrich and develop their love of the arts while contributing their specific skills, expertise, and talents.

The Individual Giving Coordinator is the primary manager for the Avant-Garde membership group (young patrons $350 -$2,500) and General Membership group ($100-$1,000). The Coordinator is a member of the 3 person Individual Giving team, which raises over $3 Million annually. Reporting to the Associate Director of Individual Giving, the Coordinator will interface internally and externally with a constituency of arts enthusiasts as part of a dynamic fundraising team.

  • Draft and coordinate mail and email renewal efforts, working closely with the Armory’s Marketing Department and Office Manager.
• Process and acknowledge all Annual Fund, General Membership, and Avant-Garde gifts, tracking accurately in Tessitura, and updating donor records.
• Answer the Member Phone Line and Member Email Inbox to fulfill ticket orders and answer questions. Offer exemplary customer service and display deep knowledge of Armory productions, seating layouts, and member benefits.
• Along with the Associate Director of Individual Giving, analyze the effectiveness of appeals and retention efforts and implement new strategies.
• Take the lead on planning monthly Avant-Garde events at the Armory and around New York City. Frequently coordinate with the Special Events department for internal events.
• Staff all donor events, including working check-in, greeting donors in-person, and helping to cultivate and steward members.
• Provide ticketing reports and donor research to senior staff members.
• Various other duties as assigned.

• Flexible and adaptable work style with the ability to work nights and weekends, manage competing demands, and work independently.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days a week.
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams/SharePoint, and PowerPoint, as well as in internet research; Tessitura experience a plus.

• Experience in a nonprofit organization, arts-related, cultural or educational institution, or equivalent preferred, ideally working on a fundraising team.
• A bachelor’s degree is desirable or the equivalent combination of experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job.
