Network and Systems Administrator

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for day-to-day IT support for over 75 users and workstations, and as well as configuring, deploying, and managing computer and network devices.  They will perform a L1, L2, and L3 technical duties, which include, but are not limited to, installation of network devices, modification, documentation, maintenance, advanced problem diagnosis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of all desktops and network hardware and software.

The Network and Systems Administrator reports to the Director of IT.  They work in close collaboration with colleagues in the facilities and operations departments, and interact frequently with managers and staff in all departments across the organization.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function to a high professional standard.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Ideal candidates will be organized, motivated, high-energy, hands-on self-starters who work well within a fast-paced environment.

• Minimum of 3 years of supporting Active Directory users, including Group Policy configuration/deployment; managing and deploying Windows-based devices and operating systems; and managing and supporting Microsoft Office 365 suite apps.
• Minimum of 5 years of troubleshooting complex network issues in an enterprise network environment and supporting Microsoft Server 2016 services like file & print sharing., with a thorough understanding of network cabling, wiring, routing, switching, and server room racking/patching.
• Working knowledge of network management and firewalling using Cisco Meraki Network technology.
• Demonstrated ability to receive input from many sources, prioritize support requests, pay attention to detail, analyze and problem-solve, and respond professionally and efficiently.
• Skill in handling diverse constituencies with service-oriented attitude, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and working in environments with changing priorities and concurrent deadlines.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed, and to respond to emergency situations on an “on call” basis.
• B.S. in computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• CCNP, CompTIA, CCSP certifications preferred.
