Part-Time Box Office Associate

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

Part-Time Box Office Associate
Under the supervision of the Box Office Manager, Box Office Associates welcome Armory patrons and handle ticketing transactions over the phone and by using Tessitura. The Box Office Associate acts as an ambassador for the Armory by answering questions regarding past and future Armory productions, as well as providing solutions when customer service challenges arise. The Associate must be an excellent communicator who is enthusiastic, takes initiative and excels in a fast-paced environment. During ticketed productions, the Associate will also play a major role in running Will Call within our collaborative team setting.

Box Office Associates report to the Box Office Manager and take direction from the Director of Ticketing and Customer Relations and the Director of Marketing.  The Armory’s Box Office includes a team of part-time Associates who are generally scheduled for around 15 hours per week throughout the year, with heavier hours around sale periods.

Responsibilities
• Sell individual tickets and subscription packages in person and over the phone using Tessitura
• Welcome patrons to the Armory in a friendly and professional manner while providing expedient customer service
• Speak knowledgeably about Armory programming
• Accurately process cash and credit card payments and reconciling payments at the end of each shift
• Coordinate will-call pick-ups and transactions
• Manage the wait list and standby line for tickets to sold out productions
• Promote Armory membership and communicate the levels and benefits in an engaging manner
• Process new members and renewals accurately
• Have meaningful interactions with patrons and visitors that promote a positive and ongoing relationship with the Armory
• Perform other Box Office duties as needed and assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function at a professional standard.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Point of sale and/or ticketing experience required;  Tessitura experience strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal communication skills and exceptional customer service skills, with a strong interest in performing and visual arts
• An enthusiastic attitude, with the ability to take initiative and excel in a fast-paced environment
• Skill in troubleshooting and problem solving
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Availability to work a flexible schedule including late night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

This position is expected to begin training in person the first week of July.
