Programming Coordinator

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR:
The Programming Coordinator provides the primary administrative coordination and support for the Armory’s small and dynamic Programming Department, including directly supporting artistic leadership, coordinating department activities and documents, and providing production support for programs.  This role works closely with colleagues across all departments to ensure effective communication, scheduling, space usage, and completion of tasks.

The Programming Coordinator reports to the Producing Director and the Artistic Director, takes direction from other members of the Programming staff, and works in coordination with all departments.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function to a high professional standard.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the operations and environment of performing arts production.
• Experience in administrative or executive support, artist services, budget management, or comparable responsibilities.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment with tight and changing deadlines. • Ability to take initiative, be hands-on, and work proactively.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and productively on a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive matters.
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as in internet research.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
